Leaders and partners from the Center for Economic Growth’s (CEG) NY Loves Nanotech (www.nylovesnano.com) and NY Loves Clean Tech (www.nylovescleantech.com) initiatives are heading west this week to promote the range of benefits of doing high-technology business in the Capital Region and Tech Valley.

From July 13-15th, CEG will exhibit under its NY Loves Nanotech Campaign at
SEMICON West; and the NY Loves Clean Tech Campaign at Intersolar North America. This is an opportunity for regional business and industry leaders to promote their semiconductor and clean energy successes and opportunities at two leading global trade events. While NY Loves Nanotech is regional, the NY Loves Clean Tech campaign is a statewide effort with partners Buffalo Niagara Enterprise, Greater Rochester Enterprise, Centerstate CEO, Mohawk Valley EDGE, National Grid and NYSERDA.

It’s an exciting time for the nanotech and clean tech industries in the Capital Region and New York State. CEG and its partners are understandably excited to share the good news and the opportunities – to a global audience of semiconductor/pv firms and supply chain companies.

Through continued collaborative efforts, our region is now witnessing its most exhilarating period of growth. To date we have seen over $15 billion in investment by industry, government, academia and the arts, including recent re-investment by industry giants GE, IBM, and GLOBALFOUNDRIES as well as Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and the College of Nanoscale Science & Engineering at the University at Albany.

“The significance of the recent investments in the Capital Region (headlined by GLOBALFOUNDRIES Fab8) makes our investment in such strategic industry events more important than ever. The fact that CEG has been leading the state’s marketing efforts at SEMICON West for more than 12 years puts us in a very strategic position to hold conversations with suppliers and other industry executives about opportunities in New York,” said Brian Hannafin, Senior Vice President, Business Development and Marketing at CEG.

SEMICON West, organized annually by SEMI, includes more than 1,000 supplier and vendor exhibits representing over 40 countries. The show, which also features informational and networking opportunities, attracts well over 20,000 attendees from across the globe. The show will focus on the key trends and technologies driving the future of the microelectronic, photovoltaic, semiconductor, and renewable and emerging markets.

Intersolar North America, co-located with SEMICON West, focuses on photovoltaics and solar thermal technology and has quickly established itself among manufacturers, suppliers, distributors and service providers as a vital international industry meeting point. Intersolar North America, promotes the development of business opportunities throughout the U.S. solar industry. More than 570 U.S.-based and international exhibitors and 20,000 trade visitors are expected across the more than 130,000 net square feet of floor space. Since its establishment in 2008, the exhibition and conference have developed into the premier platform for the solar industry in North America.

On July 14th NY Loves Nanotech will host its 11th Annual Dessert Reception, voted the #1 networking event of the week by the Chip Insider. This exclusive event is sponsored by National Grid, CEG, CH2M HILL, Marcy NanoCenter, PrecisionFlow Technologies, Airgas, Arsenal Business and Technology Partnership, CVD Equipment Corporation, EDC, Warren County, Evergreen Engineering, Luther Forest Technology Corporation, M+W Group, Mainfreight Inc., NYSERDA, Rensselaer Economic Development and Planning and Saratoga Economic Development Corporation.

“Collaborating with our regional and statewide partners is essential in building an innovation ecosystem. We understand that these efforts are vital if Upstate New York is going to realize its full potential in the rapidly expanding knowledge economy. Promoting our region’s strength and assets in research and development, workforce and quality of life continues to be a top priority,” concluded F. Michael Tucker, President and CEO of the CEG.
